CHANGE OF SKIN

Handcrafted, sustainable, organic, and social awareness are the keywords that define this capsule collection. The designer says that she has always believed that the most vulnerable people are the strongest and that whoever said that the strongest survive was a superficial and absurd person.

It costs nothing for the strong to be strong, but the weak try everything. It saddens me that vulnerability is a reason for ridicule or sadness when it should be celebrated, because it makes us compassionate beings, allowing coexistence to be possible.

People tend to hide their weaknesses because they seek that idealized perfection or strength, even so, they are just an illusion, unattainable ideals. Perhaps if the vulnerability were a source of pride, people would not isolate themselves and share what they go through. Perhaps mental health would increase since people were aware that they are not the only ones who have gone through something like this and that they are in a certain way.

Meet the designer

Claudia Viñas

Claudia is a brilliant girl very passionate about fashion and its sustainable processes. The words handmade, organic, and zero waste fashion have become actions for her, each garment she uses is sustainable in its entirety. The same alumni from Chavon the School of Design, says that in the fashion industry issues such as mental health are something that is generally never touched upon; through this, she has created her capsule collection to create an echo in said theme. Vulnerability, when hidden, becomes "scant" but if it were exhibited it would normalize. I imagine going out on the street and people wearing clothes that say what they went through, and that those clothes beautifully convey that vulnerability.
